This is one of the worst fighting games ever created, and without a doubt the worst on the SNES. The characters are incredibly generic (two have the same name) and some just plain rip-offs, there is a clown character named 'Dozo', an army man named 'G.I. Jim', the lead antagonist 'C.J.' is practically Daredevil from Marvel Comics, and a strong black man named 'Tyrone'. The other two are a robot and a ninja chick. If you want to put that aside and just talk about gameplay; alright.. each character feels like they are moving underwater. The jumps are performed not by pressing up on the D-pad but by the X button. Has strange mini-games like beating up a dwarf named 'Happy' twice, the second time he hops around on a wooden stick. The soundtrack is very stale/lackluster with exception of the main theme which attempts to be memorable. I didn't care for the backgrounds; a bridge, a Japanese garden, forests, but the skyscraper stage was kind of cool as it had you appearing as though you were balancing on an I-beam skeleton while fighting high above the city. Many moves have high recovery time and are very punishable. Street Combat would be more at place if it were just another bad NES game as it is clearly dated and sad, not as a horrible SNES game. With a limited cast of only 8 characters none of them being exceptional, zero back-story, poor soundtack, and uninspiring gameplay Street Combat is largely unheard of or easily forgotten.Read full review
